making the guesthouse garden
Once upon a time, there was a garden. It grew vega tables like ringing a bell but alas, it was ugly. This was the view from the guesthouse, a nice agricultural scene that please only the farmers.
First, we planted fruit trees - apple, cherry, peach, apricot, plum and a filbert. Then, we covered the beds with ground cloth and covered that with cedar bark.
With the beds, we created a path from which to harvest the fruit, at least the fruit the birds left.
To finish the garden, we added a rubber borders to the path and covered it with black gravel.
For those who have never seen black gravel, it comes from a local quarry about 20 miles south of here. It's a bit of local color.
The last detail - add a fence at the top of the garden to discourage deer from eating everything to the ground.
